I'm Riding For

Willy Griffin

Willy Griffin

This is year 2 I'll be riding for Travis “Will” Griffin. Willy is 15 months into his fight against pediatric cancer. He will celebrate his birthday at the end of August, for the second time while battling Leukemia, turning 13. Will, is starting 8th grade in September, he hopes that this school year he is able to attend more days of school and join after-school activities. At this point in his treatment, he takes chemo pills daily (Fridays being his heavy pill days with taking 20 pills). He is treated at Lurie’s Children's Hospital Chicago, with the end goal of moving into survivorship and completing treatment September 2025. He continues to receive chemo through his chemo-port and through a lumber puncture. Once a month he is on steroids for 5 days. He says the chemo makes him sick and tired, he gets sick, and he sleeps. While the steroids change who he is and effect every part of his body, making it feel "weird", he has a strong hate for steroids. Through all the bad, pain, and unknown there are always kind, caring and supportive people that Will is surrounded by. We truley are stronger together. Will is the grandson of of our neighbors and good friends Jane and Andy Carponelli. This years ride is personal.

My Story

12 Aug 2024

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

This year I'm riding for Travis “Will” Griffin, who will be celebrating his 13th birthday this month.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.
