Jke Williams

My participation in the Great Cycle Challenge will honor my Grandmother whom I lost to cancer on September 4, 2017. Jke Williams, crowned Matriarch and beacon of hope for her family was an excellent Educator who enjoyed Teaching. Everyone who knew her and those she encountered are better because of her. The light this phenomenal woman shed on the world shines through me and my duty to keep her spirit alive everyday is a story to be told. My Grandmother and I always bonded during outdoor adventures. We loved bike riding, skating and walking but sadly she passed away before we managed to fulfill our adventure bucket list. As I continue our adventure I’ll set out solo to achieve the “Great Cycle Challenge” in a memorable way to honor her legacy, all while helping children with the same disease that she died from. Remembering a lost loved one looks like staying connected in a way that feels healing to you. I hope to inspire my Mother and others working through the stages of grief with my drive and efforts to make a difference because connection is love passed on.

My Story

19 Aug 2026

This September, I’ve decided to celebrate my birthday by taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! As an Educator this means the world to me.

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States surpassing leukemia as the leading cause of pediatric cancer-related death. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year and 38 children die of cancer every week.

It can be really hard for me during back-to-school season because kids should be living life, not fighting for it. While some of my student survivors celebrate returning to the classroom others miss days that turn into months due to high infection risks and harsh treatments. Tragically, for children who lose their battles, their seats remain empty and it serves as a silent heartbreaking reminder of their forever absence.

I am raising funds through this challenge to help kids worldwide and support the Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give kids all over the world the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives and impact communities of families and supporters. Most importantly, it’ll teach others how important giving back is and how much of a difference you can make in the lives of others by caring and sharing.

Thank you,

Signed Ms. Williams 😊
