This September, I am once again taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! This is my TENTH year riding! I wish I didn't have to, but until there is a cure I will ride.

I am hoping to reach a total of $20,000 total for all the years of riding. That means I need to raise $505 dollars this year! Hope you all can help.

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week. (My great-nephew Tommy is a survivor from birth! How blessed!) But let's help all children live!

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Recovering from a broken tibia/plateau in late March will affect how many miles I can ride this September. Hoping I progress enough to be back on the bike. If not, I will commit to riding on a stationary bike. I'll keep you posted.

In tribute to family members, Jo (my mother-in-law) and Don (my dear father), who have been lost to cancer, and Bern and Cindy (my mother and sister) and Sharon, Tom, and Joe (sister-and brothers-in-law cancer survivors and cancer fighters) but in special honor to my great-nephew Tommy, who was born with cancer and has triumphed and is a joy to the family!
