I'm Riding For
Paul Danna (1961-2019)
This year, I am riding in memory of Paul Danna. Paul was my next door neighbor growing up and, even after we both moved out of our parents' homes, we still lived around the corner from each other for several more years. But Paul was always more than a neighbor, he was much more like my older brother. Whenever I was sick as a kid (which was VERY often), I'll never forget how Paul would record movies off of HBO and bring the VHS tapes over for me to watch. When I was in the hospital, he was usually there with a puzzle or deck of cards to keep me entertained. There was no bigger Tiger fan in the world, whether it was our Neville Tigers or the big boys down in Baton Rouge. Everyone that knew Paul could count on him to have all the latest stats or recruiting gossip, even before the internet put all of it at our fingertips. Even at Paul's funeral, we all listened and smiled as the LSU band played their marches and fight song! He would have turned 64 this year (just a few days prior to my writing this) and there's still not a trip through the old neighborhood, or to a Tiger football game, that doesn't bring back good memories of Paul. Geaux Tigers!
My Story
For the 5th year in a row, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Why? In 1993, I lost a really close friend named Brian to leukemia. And after all these years, more kids still die from cancers than from any other disease. More than 15,700 families receive a terrifying diagnosis every year.
So after raising over $3500 last year (and OVER $11000 since 2021!!) I am trying to raise even more money through this challenge to help kids who are suffering, along with their families, and support the Children's Cancer Research Fund. This fundraiser allows them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
