I'm Riding For
Brayden Thomas Stacey

Brayden Thomas Stacey is an 11 year old boy that was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma the size of a golf ball, at the young age of 3. He underwent 5 brain surgeries and 30 days of radiation through the age of 5. He had 6 month interval sedated MRIs for a couple years. It eventually had disappeared with a small trace remaining. 2 years ago he had a 1 year follow up MRI where it was found out that it had returned. He has been moved back to 6 month interval MRIs to monitor it. If it increases to much in size he will undergo yet another brain surgery. The craniopharyngioma, although not cancerous, is a very stubborn tumor that causes many problems. A lot of oncologists feel the craniopharyngioma should be classified as cancerous due to the effects of the tumor and percent of reoccurence. Brayden no longer has a fully functioning adrenal system so is on steroids for life. His Thyroid isn't working correctly so takes thyroid meds. He doesn't produce growth hormones and in turn does not grow and needs growth hormone injections, and will need to go on testosterone when hitting puberty.
My Story
This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! But as you can see I only pledged to ride 10 miles. Why you might ask? Well this spring I had a reoccurrence of my prostate cancer. September 2 will be my last of 39 radiation treatments plus, I’m also doing hormone and therapy. Between the two of them, my energy level is in the basement along with other side effects. However, I hope to be back on my bike towards the end of September.
But just because I’m not writing a lot the fight to end children’s cancer goes on.Cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.
Your support will change little lives.
Thank you.
