I'm Riding For
Tim, Alex, Lili and all those impacted by cancer
My Story
For the 6th year, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer.
More than 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week. This is unacceptable! In the past year, research for kids cancer has been cut my tens of millions of dollars. Also unacceptable!!!
In 1987 I lost a childhood friend to cancer. Statistically, back then, leukemia had a very small survival rate. Now his type of leukemia has an 88% survival rate. Research did that.
A few years ago a young lady named Lili was diagnosed with cancer in her brain. Because of research and treatment trials, she lived longer than expected. She was so brave to try experimental treatments and her courage will help other children in the future. Lili passed away 3 years ago but I will always think of her when I ride.
A few years ago I lost a close, wonderful friend. I am crushed by her loss but I have one thing that helps me: she lost a son to childhood cancer and they are now reunited. She often said to my that if Tim had gotten cancer today, he would have had a long life because treatment has advanced so much.
This cause is very important to me and I ask you to please donate. Even if it is $5. It adds up.
Thank you!!!
