I'm Riding For

Elisa McAvin

Elisa McAvin

My sister, Elisa, is one of the strongest people I know. Life has thrown more obstacles her way than anyone should ever have to face, and yet she continues to handle each challenge with grace, courage, and a strength that leaves me in awe. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of her. I pray constantly for her safety, for healing, and for moments of peace in the middle of all the battles she’s had to fight. What I wish more than anything is that she didn’t live so far away. There are so many days I want to be there—to sit with her, to laugh with her, to just be present. Distance doesn’t change how much I love her, but I would give anything to see her more often, to be able to hug her and tell her in person how much she means to me. Elisa, your strength inspires me. Your fight teaches me. And your spirit reminds me every day of what it means to keep going even when life feels impossibly heavy. I love you more than words can ever say.

My Story

10 Sep 2025

Every September, I ride my bike for kids’ cancer—and this year, it feels closer to home than ever.

Losing my sister-in-law to cancer on Easter shook our whole family. It’s hard to put into words the pain and emotions that come with it. Life is full of ups and downs, and sometimes we let little things push relationships off course. But when cancer strikes, all those small disagreements suddenly feel so meaningless.

It’s a reminder to hug your friends and family. Tell the people in your life how much they mean to you—while you can.

This year, I am riding for so many people. Please keep in your prayers the families who have lost someone, those who are fighting right now, and the survivors staying strong and living their best lives.

  • Kick Cancer’s Butt Day!
    10 Sep 2025

I got a late start riding my bike this month, but I’m working hard to get on track. 🚴‍♀️ This year, I made a personal donation of $300 to give my goal a jumpstart!

Today is Kick Cancer’s Butt Day—every donation made today will be matched dollar for dollar. 🙌 I’m trying to reach a goal of $2,500 to support those fighting this disease.

I’ll be sharing a list soon to honor everyone I’m riding for, but today I light this candle for my sister-in-law, Stacey. Love you infinity. 💛
