Jake Pennar

A very brave warrior has earned his angel wings! He is forever flying high! And in his 9 years on this Earth, Jake inspired countless people with the way he embodied his love and faith. Jake lived by these words "I grow in relationship with God by loving and caring for others." He genuinely loved everyone especially the kids at Children's Hospital Detroit where he was a patient. In September 2020, he rode his bike for Team Jake because he wanted to help kids with cancer have a better future. His legacy will live on when we ride again in September 2025 as we pay it forward for other kids fighting this disease. We salute YOU Brave Sweet Warrior Jake! Your light continues to shine on!

My Story

This will be my 10th year riding in the Great Cycle Challenge in memory of Jake Pennar, my sweet 9 year old friend who passed away in Jan 2021 after his 2 year battle with brain cancer. I learned about Jake in my local community during the 2019 GCC and was inspired by his immense love and faith. Team Jake began in 2020, and Jake even rode with us for 24 days raising over $6,000 so other kids battling cancer could have a better future. In 2025, Team Jake will continue to honor Jake's legacy and pay it forward for other kids fighting this disease. Jake your brilliant light will shine on! This year my goals in the Great Cycle Challenge are to ride 400 miles and to raise $5,370. Every year for the past 8 years I have strived to raise more money than the year before to fight kids' cancer and save little lives.
