I'm Riding For

Chris Frebault

For the past five years I have raised money for the Children's Cancer Research Fund doing the Great Cycle Challenge in honor of my brother Chris, who lost his battle with cancer at the age of 10 in 1975. This year, I will again ride in honor of my brother who would have turned 58 in May. The Great Cycle Challenge will once again feature our honorees on a digital billboard above Times Square. When this happens, photos of my brother Chris will be featured for the world to see. If you can, please donate to the cause to help make sure fewer and fewer have to go through the nightmare that these children, as well as their families, have to endure along the way.

My Story

This September, I am embarking on my 8th year of the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

When I was 8 years old my brother, Chris, was diagnosed with Leukemia and Lymphoma. Four short months later he was gone. He was only 10 years old.

I remember, at that time, my Mom saying that by donating money to the American Cancer Society we hoped that some day, with a cure, kids and families would not have to go through the horror that Chris had gone through.

51 years later kids are beating the same diagnosis at a high rate. Even so, right now, cancer is still the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

So I am raising funds in memory of my brother Chris, to help these kids to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
