Mark had a wonderfully dry and witty sense of humor .... usually delivered with that understated timing that made it even funnier. But beneath that wit was a guy who cared deeply about people. He loved coaching, and he especially loved the athletes he coached. He believed in them, challenged them, and took genuine pride in watching them grow. And not just as athletes, but as young adults. That was Mark: funny, competitive, caring, and completely invested in the people around him.

My Story

10 Sep 2026

This September, I’m riding 500 miles in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids’ cancer, and I’m carrying two people with me: my brother Chris and my friend Mark Conover.

Chris passed away a year ago. If he were here, I’m pretty sure he’d tell me, “You’ve got a bike. Go do something worthwhile. Make the time”

Mark was an Olympian, a great coach, a good friend, and one tough guy. He fought cancer three times with that same determination.

Kids facing cancer deserve the chance to be all in on life too - playing ball, riding bikes, laughing with friends, driving their parents crazy, and making memories.

So I’m riding for them, for Mark, and for Chris, and raising money for Children’s Cancer Research Fund.
