I'm Riding For

Thomas Rouse

This year I am riding in honor of all of the kids in the fight and for my dear friend, Thomas Rouse. He was diagnosed in April 2024 with angiosarcoma, a very rare form of cancer. He courageously fought this terrible disease and won the victory when Jesus welcomed him to his eternal home on September 6. I am proud to ride in honor of him and all of the kids.

My Story

I am excited to ride again in the Great Cycle Challenge! This is my eighth year participating, and I look forward to riding again to help in the fight against children’s cancer!

Cancer has impacted many of my friends and family and is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

Funds raised through my challenge support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Today I rode my husband’s indoor training bike. It is very different from the kinetic trainer I am used to riding. It was a lot more fun to have some scenery! I got in another 16 miles today which puts me over the halfway mark! 🙌 I will keep pedaling for the kids! Let’s see how far we can go! Today was another great early morning ride! It was so nice to see God’s beautiful creation and hear the birds singing praises! 🌼 🦋 ⛅️ 🙌 We rode another 20 miles and had a 13.8 average! Road miles with Lynn are definitely more fun although there was more wind today. 🌬️ Maybe my new Robin Superhero jersey was giving some extra motivation!😊 Thanks to all who have helped me earn it! 👏🙌 ❤️ I’m keeping all the kids in the fight in my thoughts and prayers with each turn of the pedals and am determined to finish strong over these last 11 days! 🙏🚴‍♀️🙏🙌❤️

I am so thankful for my husband! He has always been my biggest supporter and encourager in everything including the GCC! Even though he can ride WAY better, longer and faster than I can, he is patient and pulls at my pace. He has helped me each year to reach my goal. He takes care of everything! He does all of my bike maintenance, so I literally have nothing to do but pedal! I am so grateful for EVERYTHING he does to help make my life better! He is such a blessing! We make a good team! ❤️😊

My schedule for today changed, so we went early to get my first outdoor ride of the year! It was a beautiful, cloudy morning with not a lot of wind. 🙌 It was a wonderful 20-mile ride! 😁 🙌❤️ So thankful I get to share the miles with the one I love! ❤️ Hopefully, we can get more miles this weekend with the Big Wheel group! 🙏🚴‍♀️

I rode another 11 miles on the trainer today. I’m finally over the 100 mile mark! I’m hoping to have some good outdoor miles over the weekend. The kids are still fighting and so I am I. 🙏🚴‍♀️🙏

I had another indoor trainer ride today and added another 10 miles. I am pedaling and thinking of all the kids who are fighting for their lives instead of living it. I am sure they would trade their pokes and pain for pedals! Keep the support coming! I appreciate every donation and prayer! 🚴‍♀️🤗❤️
