Ron Johnson
My Story
This year, I’m dedicating my ride to Ron Johnson, Scott’s dad, to my dear friend Corinne as she recovers from cancer, and to every child bravely facing this disease.
Cancer has touched my life in far too many ways. I lost both of my parents to cancer, and today we’re standing beside loved ones who are facing their own journeys. Ron is battling cancer with incredible courage, determination, and grace. At the same time, my friend Corinne is navigating the road to recovery, showing strength and resilience every step of the way. Their courage reminds me daily why this ride matters.
Watching people you care about face cancer changes you. It reveals the heartbreak, uncertainty, and challenges that come with every diagnosis, but it also reveals the extraordinary strength of the human spirit. Ron’s fight and Corinne’s recovery are powerful reminders that behind every cancer story is a family, a community, and a circle of people cheering them on.
As I pedal each mile this September, I’ll be riding in honor of Ron, Corinne, and the memory of my parents. I’ll also be riding for the thousands of children diagnosed with cancer every year. Children should be spending their days learning, laughing, making friends, chasing dreams, and discovering who they want to become, not sitting in hospital rooms, undergoing treatments, or facing fears no child should ever have to endure.
Every mile represents hope. Hope for better treatments, continued breakthroughs in research, and a future where fewer families experience the pain of cancer. Most of all, it represents hope for children and families who are fighting today and counting on all of us to make a difference.
This ride is for Ron. This ride is for Corinne. This ride is for my parents. This ride is for the kids. This ride is for hope. ❤️
