This challenge always motivates me to ride further. Cycling is a process of self-determination, steadfastness, and endurance. It means so many things to me and I feel lucky to have a body that allows me to experience such things. To reach and to realize what I am truly capable of. I felt the challenge this past week. 4 punctures in 7 days. I still completed my 1000-miles. Why? Because I said I would. Because it's for the kids. They are dealing with real life problems and so are their parents. So I sent it for them. Every month presents a different set of challenges but my response is always positive. Each time I learn something valuable.

On Saturday the 14th I rode 100-miles. It took me 8hrs to complete my ride. And I felt fantastic. I decided to experiment with different food. For electrolytes I added salt to my 750ml water bottles. My choice of fueling was 3 peanut butter & jelly sandwiches cut in half, and tuna with crackers and garlic bread for lunch. I didn't experience any cramping, which is why I chose to try this.

The only thing I would do different is swap the tuna and crackers for protein bars. And add banana instead of jelly. I will stick to the gels and hydration powder I normally eat on rides. However, I will use one bottle for water with a pinch of salt, and the other will have my normal hydration so that I stay sufficiently hydrated from start to finish while stretching my hydration as long as I can.

  • Thank you all
    4 Sep 2024

As I start my challenge to ride 1000-miles in 30 days, I just want to take the time to thank all of my sponsors. Without you, I wouldn't have made my fundraising goal before the month of September. Together, we raised $1532. Well, over my 1,000 goal.

As I average 41 miles per day to hit my riding challenge, I am keeping the kids and their families in mind. The challenges that they face every single day and the fear the children may have. They are courageous. I am ready to smash this challenge to kick cancer's butt. Let's go🔥

    Thank you all

The children always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.
