Another long ride today gets me to my 300 mile goal for the month! I was hoping to ride along the American River trail again today but I was a bit delayed this morning. So, kept it local and made my way out to Winters, CA. I arrived in downtown Winters after riding 25 miles and knowing that I needed ~57 miles total, I pushed on to Lake Solano.
Maybe it was the heat of the day getting to me but the ride home was miserable. Feet hurt, neck hurt, back hurt… but I made it. 303 miles in total for the month, we shall see if I add anymore over the weekend, but my vote right now is for sleeping in!
Today was a 3 ride day. Feeling a bit sluggish and unmotivated to go for a ride around Woodland this weekend, then Autumn asked to go for a quick ride around the block. Easy enough, hopped on the mountain bike and rode around the block, 0.33 miles done. That got me motivated to go for a longer ride to Davis, well that and the looming 90+ miles I would have to do if I didn’t go for a longer ride, 21.9 miles done. Finished with a quick cardio session on Zwift, 6.3 miles done.
Heading into the final week I have 67 miles to hit my goal of 300 miles for the month, 117 if I want to push it to 350 miles. As a team we are only $45 from reaching our goal of $3,000 for the month!
Ride 5: 56.10 miles along the American and Sacramento Rivers. Lots of wildlife spotted including quail, deer, and turkeys. I rode from the Nimbus fish hatchery down the American River to Discovery Park were the American River flows into the Sacramento River. From there I rode through old town Sacramento and beyond before turning around and heading back to the car.
Trying to find time between getting a ride in, avoiding the afternoon heat, and other family obligations. So this morning it was an early get up and on the smart trainer. I rode the Worlds Course in Richmond Virginia. Hopefully next weekend I can get out more.
Ride 3: No real destination today. I just wanted to get some miles in before it got too hot! 28 miles today which puts me at 103 for the challenge so far. So a lot of just wandering about the Spring Lake Neighborhood. One thing that did catch my attention today was seeing the Sacramento skyline. Not always very visible from Woodland but you could just make it out on the horizon. Seeing a city skyline on the horizon like that always makes me think of The Wizard of Oz.
Ride 2: Another ride through the country roads surrounding Woodland. This time I headed to the Northwest and out to Cache Creek where I can find a few small hills. Passed many more tomatoes on this ride but thankfully no puncture today.
I completed my goal for the weekend of 75 miles, now to recover and plan out the routes and locations for rides next weekend, while maybe sneaking in a short recovery ride during the week either outdoors or via Zwift.
Thanks again to everyone supporting me during this adventure!
Ride 1: local ride around Woodland and Davis, CA for 41.5 miles. This time of year tomato fields are being harvested throughout the region. Truck after truck piled high with fresh tomatoes heading to various local canneries. This often results in numerous tomatoes strewn along the roadsides. Not the worst obstacles to deal with while on a bike ride…
Also on this ride, skydivers at the local Yolo County airport, short gravel sections along the Putah Creek levee, and a late puncture due to a large industrial staple.
