It's been almost a week and little to no improvement. It has gotten better in that I can walk without a limp, but now some intense load-bearing activities hurt. Im retiring the bike for the forseeable future to make sure I can keep working and going to class without pain. It's a disappointing end to the challenge, but I'll be back next year for my revenge tour.
Did my first destination ride yesterday. Rode out to the CE Trail in Kaukauna and rode most of it. I think that's the first time I've ridden a 55 mph rode without a shoulder, a little scary but traffic was light and respectful. Had a great time, made sure to stop often and take lots of pictures. By the time I got home I noticed a nasty looking bruise on my calf, and I noticed it wasn't recovering as fast as my other leg. I think I got a minor strain from doing a much longer and much more intense ride with some serious hill climbs. Today the calf feels really weak, and I've got a bit of a limp going on. It doesn't hurt but I get a feeling of dread from putting weight on it. It's hard to get a good recovery timeline, hoping it clears up before next weekend at least. Otherwise, I might just have to call it for September. I plan on skipping my Monday ride as of right now but let's hope Wednesday is a different story!
