Well, I had a chance Sunday to spend some time on the rode with the Titusville Cycling Community. It was a brisk ride for me at 16 plus mph but was worth the challenge. I was able to last 20 plus miles with the group before I had to bail. Still managed to ride close to 25 miles to get back to the car. Helped me get some additional miles for the Great Cycle Challenge.
Nice ride over the bridge and stopped at the Veterans Museum.
Got lucky today with winds out of the NW. What did that mean, you ask? Well, the trip home after my turnaround was easier. For some reason, in Florida, there is always a headwind in the way home. On occasion, you run into a good wind.
Well, I got a little busy this week, so I didn't get a lot of pre-work done. Was able to get 8 miles in doing my neighborhood ride. Had a little help from hurricane Erin and a workout when going into the headwind. Still have a week and a half of pre-work before I start my September rides. I'm thinking of changing up this year. Might try to touch Cape Canaveral and maybe Viera along with my regular Titusville route.
Yep, 5 years ago, I started riding to avoid surgery on my knee. Well, that worked, so far, at least. I decided that I needed something else to ride for other than fitness and avoiding the knife. I came across GCC, and here I am. Older, still riding and still fighting.
This may be the last year I'll ride for the GCC, but I'll still be on the road.
Today's ride was just my weekly ride, and if it's any indication of how September will be, I'm in for a duzzy. The heat and humidity are terrible. It's definitely going to be early or late rides. So if you see a black Specialized poking down the ride, give me a honk.
