My Story
This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer in memory of JC Delamore.
Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.
Your support will change little lives.
Thank you.

A Moment to Remember: JC Delamore in Times Square
26 Aug 2024On Wednesday, August 21, the bustling heart of New York City paid tribute to a young hero. JC’s picture was displayed on a billboard in Times Square, honoring his life and the enduring impact he has left behind.
JC's journey, marked by his diagnosis with leukemia at just 2 ½ years old, was a testament to his incredible strength and resilience. Despite facing numerous relapses and enduring countless treatments, JC's courage touched the lives of all who knew him. His story is a powerful reminder of the struggles many children face in their battle against cancer.
The billboard in Times Square serves as a poignant reminder of JC’s legacy and the ongoing need to support efforts to fight childhood cancer. Even though JC is no longer with us, his spirit continues to inspire action and awareness.
Seeing JC's face in such an iconic place reminds us of the importance of continuing the fight against childhood cancer, honoring those we've lost, and supporting those who continue to battle every day.

A Tribute to JC Delamore: A Journey of Strength and Inspiration
9 Aug 2024An Inspiring Hero
I first met a remarkable 4-year-old boy named JC Delamore in 2009 while training for the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco. JC was the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Wichita chapter Boy of the Year, which is how our paths crossed. I had joined the LLS Team In Training Program and became a member of Team Spexy to help raise funds and awareness for LLS. It was there that I also met JC’s inspiring mother, Angie Delamore, who was a fellow teammate.
JC's Courageous Journey
From the moment I met JC, I was struck by his extraordinary spirit. Diagnosed with leukemia when he was only 2 ½ years old, JC’s journey was a testament to resilience. Over the years, he faced the unimaginable; enduring treatment after treatment and relapsing six times. Despite these overwhelming challenges, JC radiated courage and strength, inspiring everyone around him. His laughter and determination became a beacon of hope for those who knew him.
Tragically, JC passed away on May 20, 2018, at the tender age of 13. His legacy continues to inspire countless individuals, highlighting the vital need to fight against cancer and advocate for those affected by this disease.
Making a Difference Together
During my time with Team In Training I learned that we raised an impressive $14 million through the Nike Women’s Marathon for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This experience taught me that every effort and donation, no matter how small, can create a significant impact. Together, we can make a difference, one step and one contribution at a time.
Continuing the Fight
Inspired by JC’s incredible story and the strength of his family, I am riding my bike for the second year in a row this September to raise money for the Children's Cancer Research Fund. I believe that, just like before, every pedal stroke and every donation can bring us closer to a world free from cancer. Together, we can honor JC’s memory and work towards a brighter future for all children battling this disease.
