My Story

9 Feb 2026

This September, I’m riding to end childhood cancer and save little lives.

Today, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,000 children are diagnosed every year - and heartbreakingly, 38 children lose their lives to cancer every week. While treatments have advanced, childhood cancer remains a devastating challenge that needs our continued attention, funding and research.

My inspiration: Turning a mother’s unimaginable heartbreak into a mission of hope and advocacy.

I lost my beloved only child, my son Sean Strother, to Glioblastoma, a rare, aggressive, treatment -resistant and incurable brain cancer 1,343 days ago. This devastating disease impacts both in adults and children, leaving families shattered.

Today - Sean’s birthday - Valentines Day, – I am kick-starting my GCC campaign in his honor.

While undergoing treatment for this unrelenting cancer, Sean joined the BMC Software Great Cyle Challenge team, invited by his colleague and GCC legacy rider, Cody Dean, who also lost his father to brain cancer. Without hesitation, Sean accepted - he wanted to help children and ride to end cancer so that no child would endure the suffering he did. Cycling brought him strength, hope, and community, and it was something he loved to share with his daughters, Jada and Chloe.

To carry forward Sean’s legacy of kindness, courage, and care, I will continue his mission - riding and raising awareness to help find better treatments and, ultimately, a cure for childhood cancer.

All funds raised through my page and the Sean Strother Family & Friends Team will support rare cancer research at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Center for Pediatric Immunotherapy.
