My Story

Once again this September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! Year number eight for me!!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Ke'yair has had a tough go this year, more surgeries for lung metastasis, and he lost his faithful service dog Dexter. But on a brighter note, he will be attending high school this fall.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

In the last 9 days I have completed 11 rides totaling 303 miles. This brings me to over 33% of my mileage goal. However, today was not the best day thanks to a 2 inch nail puncturing my rear tire while I was about 17 miles into my ride. The goal was to ride ~40 miles to put me at the 300 mark. Well, I got the miles in but had to get out the backup bike to finish it off. Thanks to a neighbor for rescuing me so I didn't have to walk the 8 miles home.
