I'm Riding For
Jim Burens (My big brother.)
Like me, Jim is fighting cancer. He saved my life by telling me to get checked out several years ago. I thought I wasn't likely to get cancer because there was little to no cancer in our family. Clearly, that is not a good way to measure your cancer risk! I later found out about all of the carcinogens I was exposed to in the military... It's a long list.
My Story
OK friends, this is it, I'm raising my ride goals to 150 miles! Please chip in and donate to this amazing cause. Even if you have already donated, please add any amount you can!
This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support the Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
Please support me by donating to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.
Your support will change little lives.
Thank you.

30 miles so far!
10 Sep 2025I know, thirty miles isn't much, but it's the best I can do right now. When I get used to my chemotherapy, I'll be able to ride further and faster. I really like to ride fast! In fact, I can't remember a time when I didn't love going fast on my bike!

this time it's very personal.
29 Aug 2025I've been working on getting my bike in excellent condition for the ride. I'm going to have to start slow since my chemotherapy treatments are not helping with my energy levels or strength. Nevertheless, I will complete this challenge for the children who have to undergo chemotherapy, and all of the children who fight cancer.
This time, it's very personal. This time, I understand a little bit of what these brave children go through, and it breaks my heart.
